The Fifth grade teachers are pleased to have your child as a student for the 2013-2014 school year. We look forward to a productive year with your child as he/she completes the last year of elementary school and prepares for middle school.

CONSEQUENCES FOR FAILURE TO FOLLOW CLASSROOM RULES


1. TEACHER ADMINISTERED DISCIPLINE
Conduct marks will be cleared after each six weeks.
1 mark – teacher warning
2 marks – teacher warning with parent contact
3 marks - teacher detention with parent contact
4 marks – teacher detention with parent AND office contact
5 marks or more - office referral
Includes: Talking during instruction, not following instructions, inappropriate behavior, being unprepared for class, having candy, food, or drink, and being disrespectful.


2. PRINCIPAL ADMINISTERED DISCIPLINE
Severe or perpetual disruptions will result in an office referral.
Severe Clause: In case of severe misbehavior such as fighting, vandalizing, defying a teacher, or stopping the class from functioning, the student will be referred immediately to the principal.

 


MAKE-UP WORK AND HOMEWORK

Students are required to turn in "Math and Science Logs" every Monday.  Math and Science homework needs to be turned in every Thursday.  Students shall be required to make up all assignments, or tests after absences. It is the student’s responsibility to find out the assignment and to make up the work within the allotted time period. It is always to the student’s advantage to make up work promptly. Students may be required to make up tests, etc. at ZAP CLub after school.

 

TUTORING

Tutoring will begin in late September.  I will send individual letters inviting a student to tutoring if needed.  Tutoring will be provided after school from 3:00 to 4:00 pm
